ABOUT

The Joyful Life Cochlear Implant Fund (JLCIF) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to ensuring that cochlear implant recipients can stay connected to sound by helping cover the ongoing costs of external cochlear implant equipment and offering confidence-building support. Unlike many programs that focus on surgery or initial implant placement, JLCIF emphasizes product support — helping people pay for critical components like batteries, cable coils, accessories, repairs, replacement processors, and other equipment needed to keep cochlear implants functioning over time. The fund also offers confidence coaching to help recipients overcome emotional challenges, build self-esteem, and thrive in daily life.

Applicants must have already received a cochlear implant and must first explore all available funding options, including private insurance, Medicare/Medicaid, state programs, manufacturer payment plans, or other assistance, before applying to JLCIF. Once other avenues have been exhausted, JLCIF works directly with manufacturers or cochlear implant centers to provide support, helping recipients remain active in the hearing world even when insurance doesn’t cover all ongoing costs. JLCIF serves cochlear implant users across the United States, ensuring that financial barriers don’t interrupt someone’s ability to hear.
