Easterseals Champions for Children
ABOUT
Champions for Children is a collaborative program across Georgia provided by Easterseals and Parent to Parent of Georgia. It offers much-needed direct financial assistance and supportive services to medically fragile and special needs children—aged 18 and under—who require substantial care but were denied eligibility for the Katie Beckett Medicaid waiver. Enrollment is limited to children living at home with a disability, who are not already covered by Medicaid.
Once a family applies and is accepted, an Easterseals Champions Coordinator works closely with them to assess needs and connect them to a range of services including respite care, specialized medical equipment and supplies, therapies (such as occupational, physical, or speech), dental and vision services, travel reimbursements for medical appointments, recreational or therapeutic activities, and referrals to additional community supports like Parent to Parent of Georgia. Financial assistance is provided for expenses incurred after the enrollment date.
