Miracle Ear Children's Foundation
ABOUT
The Miracle‑Ear Foundation is a nonprofit dedicated to helping individuals who cannot afford hearing aids and have no other viable funding options. Through its Gift of Sound program, the foundation offers hearing aids and support services at no cost—on a case-by-case basis—to both adults and children who meet income and eligibility requirements. Applicants must demonstrate that all other funding sources (such as insurance, Medicaid, VA benefits, or other charitable programs) have been exhausted. Eligibility is also based on household income being at or below roughly 200% of federal poverty guidelines. Adult applicants (19 and older) must submit a non-refundable application fee of $200, paid by cashier’s check or money order. Children (18 and younger) are exempt from the application fee and require a recent audiogram and physician’s medical clearance.
If approved, recipients are fitted with hearing aids identical to those sold in stores at no cost, including an initial set of earmolds (free for both adults and children, though additional earmolds may incur charges for adults). The program also includes a three-year warranty—with repair coverage for adults for three years (though not for loss or damage) and a one-time replacement for children. Adults may reapply every five years, while children may reapply every three years, provided they still meet eligibility criteria.
